    We are currently seeking a full time Surgical Instrument Technician to join our Madison Street Surgery Center team.  Madison Street is an accredited ambulatory surgery center specializing in eye surgeries to include cataract, premium lenses, retinal, eyelid and cosmetic reconstructive procedures.  Our surgeons and staff are dedicated to providing the best in ophthalmologic care for vision correcting and vision saving surgeries.  



    Under general supervision, the Surgical Instrument Technician is responsible for receiving, sorting, inspecting, cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, preparing, sterilizing, storing and issuing disposable and non-disposable supplies, instruments, and equipment.


    • Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments. 

    • Familiar with and follows policies and procedures of the center.

    • Provides optimum care to patients before, during, and after surgery which includes preparation, intervention, and evaluation while maintaining patient privacy.

    • Apply knowledge, skills and interpersonal competencies to provide quality patient care.

    • Adheres to principals of asepsis.

    • Maintains safe environment to prevent patient injury including proper patient positioning.

    • Assists in cleaning, maintaining, operating, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment, instruments, and patient care areas.

    • Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of medications and supplies.

    • Communicates pertinent information and seeks assistance and/or consultation of physicians or other staff as needed.

    • Participates in staff orientation, in-services, and meetings as requested.

    • Participates in quality management program.

    • Handles instruments, tissue specimens, and cultures properly.

    • Other duties as assigned.


    • Successful completion of a Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing Technician program is required.  We will hire and train an new grad.

    • 1+ year of experience as a Sterile Instrument Tech, Sterile Processing Tech, Central Service Tech, etc. is preferred.

    • Central Sterilization Department and / or OR experience is a plus

    • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) or similar certification is preferred

    • Highly motivated and ability to multi-task efficiently under demanding situations

    • Knowledge of all aspects of general and surgical sterile processing procedures

    • BLS on hire or within 90 days of hire
